The Yangshao Culture Museum is located in the Yangshao Village Ruins Protection Area of Mianchi County, Henan Province. It is a thematic museum on Yangshao Culture that integrates the function of cultural relics preservation, display, education, entertainment, relics research and foreign exchange as a whole. With a total investment of 51.3 million yuan, the museum covers an area of 43 acres with the construction area of 4,700 square meters. The parking lot is set on the west side of the main building, and the flow of visitors can be orderly organized by the streamline design, so the whole surroundings  around museum provide visitors with great convenience.

There are three thematic exhibition halls set in the Yangshao Culture Museum, in which a total of 263 cultural relics are displayed. No.1 exhibition hall: Discover Yangshao - the story of Mr. An Tesheng and Yangshao Village; No.2 exhibition hall: Galaxy - the type and distribution of Yangshao culture; No.3 exhibition hall: Towards Civilization - exhibiting Yangshao culture, society and life. Four bronze statues are standing outside the museum to commemorate the Swedish scholar Anderson, Chinese geologist Yuan Fuli, archaeologist Xia Wei and An Zhimin.

Yangshao Culture was named after the discovery which Swedish geologist Anderson found in Yangshao Village in 1921 The Yangshao Cultural Relic Site belongs to the Neolithic Middle and Late Cultural relics from 5000 BC to 4000 BC. The relic site is about 300 meters long and 900 meters wide. The total area is about 300,000 square meters and the cultural layer is 2-4 meters thick. In 1961, Yangshao Culture Museum was announced by the State Council as a national key cultural relics protection unit.

The excavation of the Yangshao Village Relic Site has created a precedent for field archaeology in China, which opened up the history of modern Chinese archaeology and the first page of archaeological research in China's primitive society, what’s more, it fills in the blanks in the development history of ancient Chinese culture. Yangshao culture has become the first officially named ancient culture in China’s Neolithic.

The Yangshao Village Cultural Relic Site is famous for its rich culture and valuable historical value. It is a monument in the history of the development of the Chinese nation and plays an important role in the history of human civilization in the world. In November 2000, the excavation of Yangshao Cultural Relic Site was rated as “one of the ten major archaeological discoveries in Henan in the 20th century”; in 2001, it was named “one of the 100 major archaeological discoveries in China in the 20th century”. The Yangshao Village Relic Site has become a "culture holy place" for Chinese and foreign historical scholars and archaeological circles.
