Transportation infrastructure is the bond of connectivity, and infrastructure connectivity is important support for an open economy. Since the beginning of this year, combined with the “13561” layout, our city has been accelerating the construction of a modern, efficient, and connected comprehensive transportation system. Focusing on “network connection and consolidating and strengthening industrial chains”, our city has continuously optimized the transportation infrastructure layout. Currently, there are 426 km of expressways, 1,598 km of trunk roads, 8,443 km of rural roads, and 199 km of tourist roads in Sanmenxia. 

Projects are the top priority. With expressways as the main line, trunk roads as branches, and rural roads as connecting lines, we vigorously implement the upgrade plan to create a smooth and connected transportation network. Special work groups have been established for ongoing and preliminary projects to address challenges and ensure the smooth progress of key transportation projects. In 2024, there are three key expressway projects under construction, namely the Lushi–Luonan Expressway, the Jiyuan–Xin’an Expressway, and the Wangguan Yellow River Bridge on National Highway 209; two projects with preliminary work done, namely the Sanmenxia–Luoning Expressway and the Lingbao-Yongji (Henan-Shaanxi Boundary) Expressway; two projects with preliminary work to be carried out, namely the Sanmenxia section of the Yongcheng-Lingbao Expressway and the Sanmenxia section of the Shenqiu-Lushi Expressway; three long-term planned projects, namely the Luoyang-Sanmenxia section of the Lianyungang–Khorgos Expressway, the Guanyintang-Xiaxian Expressway, and the Lingbao-Danfeng Expressway.

Focus on the goals and ensure steady progress. Adhering to a goal-oriented and result-oriented approach, semi-annual evaluations and annual summaries for local governments where the projects are located are conducted, to jointly advance project construction with coordinated efforts. As of the end of June, the investment in expressways under construction has reached 1.162 billion yuan, accounting for 58% of the annual target, of which the Lushi–Luonan Expressway has completed 1.114 billion yuan and the Mianchi section of the Jiyuan–Xin’an Expressway has completed 48 million yuan.

Since 2022, the Haolebaoji-Ji’an rail and highway bridge, the connecting line of the Lianyungang–Khorgos and Huhhot-Beihai Expressways, the Mianchi-Luoning section of the Mianchi-Xichuan Expressway and the Luanchuan-Lushi Expressway have been completed and opened to traffic. The Henan-Shaanxi province boundary section of the Lushi–Luonan Expressway and the Mianchi section of the Jiyuan–Xin’an Expressway will be completed and open to traffic in 2025. The Wangguan Yellow River Bridge on National Highway 209 is under accelerated construction. The construction of “four good rural roads”, rural tourism roads, resource roads, and industrial roads has been comprehensively upgraded. Lushi County and Lingbao City have been awarded the titles of national and provincial “Four Good Rural Roads” demonstration counties respectively.

The preliminary work of the Sanmenxia-Luoning Expressway and Lingbao-Yongji (Henan-Shaanxi boundary) Expressway projects with a total investment of 16 billion yuan is progressing rapidly. The Sanmenxia-Luoning Expressway aims to start construction by the end of the year, and the feasibility report for the Lingbao-Yongji (Henan-Shaanxi boundary) Expressway has been completed.
