On July 25th, the municipal government information office held the fourth press conference themed “Strive for the Future, Work for Excellence” to introduce the progress of our city’s efforts to accelerate the openness development strategy. Officials from the Municipal Commerce Bureau, Municipal Development and Reform Commission, Municipal Bureau of Industry and Information Technology, Municipal Transportation Bureau, Sanmenxia Customs, and Municipal Railway Construction Company introduced the relevant situation and answered reporters’ questions.

The degree of openness to the outside and the degree of connectivity with the outside affect the development speed. In recent years, our city has continued to implement the “13561” layout for the construction of a modern Sanmenxia and focused on the “Ten Strives” requirements, promoting high-quality economic development with high-level opening-up.

From major economic performance indicators, in the first half of this year, our city introduced 70 projects with funds from outside the province, with actual funds from outside the province reaching 26.41 billion yuan, up 3.5% year-on-year. The total import and export value was 10.75 billion yuan, ranking 5th in the province. The imports were 9.46 billion yuan and the exports were 1.29 billion yuan. The value of newly signed contracts in foreign countries reached 34.39 million dollars and the actual turnover reached 465 million dollars, up 31.1% year-on-year, ranking second in the province. A total of 150 people were sent abroad for labor services, ranking sixth in the province. Various open economy indicators continued to improve, and the city’s high-level opening-up has reached a new level.

According to the spokesperson for the municipal government information office, in the next step, our city will continue to expand its openness, thoroughly implement the major strategy of ecological conservation and high-quality development in the Yellow River basin, actively participate in the high-quality cooperation under the Belt and Road Initiative, and continuously improve the level of cooperation between our city and countries involved in the Belt and Road Initiative. Our city will make good use of the pilot supervision and clearance model for imported copper concentrate transported by rail, facilitate tests upon arrival of more major commodities, advance the construction of key projects, such as the Sanmenxia Railway Comprehensive Hub Logistics Park, and accelerate the formation of a cross-intersection railway hub for passenger and freight transport. Focusing on the twelve key industrial chains identified by the city, we will actively promote investment attraction, seize development opportunities, open up new foreign trade markets, and cultivate new drivers of openness to the outside world.
