On May 28, the 2024 Sanmenxia Along the Yellow River International Cycling Invitational was held successfully at the Yellow River Park. Relevant leaders of the General Administration of Sport of China attended the opening ceremony, Li Jiyang, deputy director of the Sport Bureau of Henan Province, delivered a speech, Zhang Heze, member of the Municipal Party Committee, secretary of the Municipal Commission for Discipline Inspection, and acting director of the Municipal Supervisory Committee, announced the opening of the competition, Qing Zhiying, member of the Party Leadership Group of the Municipal People’s Congress Standing Committee and level I bureau rank official, attended the ceremony. Deputy mayor Wei Xiangyu delivered a welcome speech, deputy mayor Yang Hongzhong presided over the ceremony, Feng Junzhen, deputy chairman of the Municipal CPPCC, and others were present and took an honorary ride.

Li Jiyang said that in recent years, Sanmenxia has actively implemented the national strategy for ecological protection and high-quality development in the Yellow River Basin. With the Yellow River as the theme, sports as the link, and events as the platform, the city has continuously explored Yellow River culture, actively cultivated several sports brand events along the Yellow River and continuously improved the supply level of national fitness events. Sports events have become an important platform and window for promoting and showcasing Sanmenxia. He hopes that Sanmenxia will continue to make efforts, meticulously cultivate special high-end sports brand events and promote all-round and high-quality development of sports.

It is reported that the Sanmenxia Along the Yellow River International Cycling Invitational is an international C-level event in China. Nearly 200 professional athletes from 32 professional teams and more than 800 cycling enthusiasts from all over the world participated in the competition. After fierce competition, PREVAR Oleksandr and CHIA BERMUDEZ LUIS Carlos from the Colombia Taishan Team, and Vitalii Novakovskyi from the China GUSTO Superteam won the top three places individually, the Colombia Taishan Team won the first place as a team, and Gan Zhanbo from the Colombia Taishan Team won the title of the best young player.
