On February 7th, the 2022 “China Sports Lottery Cup” Henan Judo Championship came to an end in Shangqiu. The Sanmenxia team performed well and won one gold medal and one silver medal.

The competition was hosted by the Henan Administration of Sports, and undertaken by the Henan Province Heavy Sports Aviation Center and the Shangqiu Education and Sports Bureau. The competition lasted for 4 days. 521 young athletes from 20 teams from across the province tested their training results, exchanged ideas and learned from each other through the competition. 16 athletes from Sanmenxia were qualified for the competition.

Song Yunfei, a member of the Sanmenxia team, is 15 years old and won the gold medal in the men’s group C 81kg class. Fan Yiqin is 17 years old and won the silver medal in the men’s group B 81kg class.

“This competition was supposed to be held in 2022, but it was postponed due to the epidemic. During the epidemic prevention and control period in August, the children persisted in doing basic exercises in the corridor of the hotel every day. It’s not easy to achieve such results in this competition,” said Yan Jing, a coach of the Sanmenxia Sports School’s judo team.

According to reports, in recent years, Sanmenxia has extensively carried out youth sports activities, vigorously cultivated reserve talents, strengthened scientific training, and actively prepared for competitions, so that the players have been well improved in terms of physical fitness, technology, and tactics. The training effectiveness of the judo team of the Sanmenxia Sports School was tested and more practical experience was accumulated through this competition, which laid a solid foundation for preparing for the Games of Henan.
