The First Cross-Straits Conference of the Yangshao Culture Kicked off in Mianchi
The Yangshao Culture is the root of both sides of the Taiwan Straits. On November 29th, the First Cross-Straits Conference of the Yangshao Culture kicked off in the Yangshao Culture Museum in Mianchi.
This event was held online and offline. All-China Federation of Taiwan Compatriots, Henan Provincial Taiwan Affairs Office, Fujian Federation of Taiwan Compatriots sent congratulatory letters and written speeches to express their congratulations. Chinese Cross-Straits Exchange Association, with Wu Boxiong as the honorary chairman and Yu Zhongda as the chairman, sent a congratulatory letter. Wu Chengdian, chairman of the New Party, and Lu Bingwen, chairman of the Cross-Straits Harmonious Cultural Exchange Association and chairman of the Taiwan Federation of Cultural and Art Circles, made video speeches. The British Taiwanese businessman, Dong Shuzhen, China Zheng He Society, Asia-Pacific Society for Culture and Education and other non-government organizations and associations in Taiwan sent congratulatory letters and telegrams respectively.
Wang Songzhao, member of the standing committee of the municipal Party committee and director of the United Front Work Department, attended the conference and delivered a speech. Qing Zhiying, vice mayor, presided over the conference.
The First Cross-Straits Conference of the Yangshao Culture is an important cross-Straits cultural exchange activity held after the 20th CPC National Congress, an important part of the implementation of the spirit of General Secretary Xi Jinping’s congratulatory letter on the 100th anniversary of the discovery of the Yangshao Culture and the beginning of modern archaeology in China, also a concrete action and important measure to study and implement the spirit of the 20th CPC National Congress. In the new era, the study of the Yangshao Culture on both sides of the Straits is full of vitality.The Yangshao culture will also make irreplaceable contributions to the promotion of economic and cultural exchanges and cooperation between the two sides of the Straits, Chinese culture, and the process of peaceful reunification of the motherland.
In the academic exchange activity of the conference, many historical experts, including Professor Wang Jie, former director of the Executive Education Center of the Taiwan Affairs Office of the State Council, Su Jiancheng, chairman of the Taiwan Association for the Study of Chinese History and Culture, Wang Xiaokun, associate professor of the School of History, Renmin University of China, and Li Shiwei, deputy director of the Prehistorical Archeology Research Office of the Henan Provincial Institute of Cultural Heritage and Archeology, vividly told the “past and present life” of the Yangshao Culture from different angles and different dimensions, verifying history through objects and boosting confidence through history, which has further deepened the understanding of the Yangshao Culture of compatriots on both sides of the Straits, and promoted economic and cultural exchanges and cooperation between the two sides of the Straits.
