Brand effect is obvious, and the industrial foundation is strong. Based on characteristic resources, Sanmenxia has cultivated a number of authentic superior varieties. "Lushi Fructus Forsythiae", " Lingbao Eucommia Ulmoides ", "Mianchi Salvia Miltiorrhiza " and "Bupleurum in Mianchi" all have been certified as products of national origin and geographical protection, organic plant products and agricultural products of geographical indication. "Luchi Fructus Forsythiae" has been recognized as the "fourth batch of advantageous agricultural products with Chinese characteristics". Lushi County has developed 1.2 million mu of Fructus Forsythiae ( including 550000 mu of wild cultivation and 650000 mu of artificial planting), with an annual output of 4000 tons and an output value of 280 million yuan, the planting area and output in Lushi county ranked first in the country; Mianchi Salvia Miltiorrhiza with a planting area of 53000 mu, as the core production area of Salvia Miltiorrhiza in Western Henan, was selected into the national list of famous, special and new agricultural products, and was awarded the title of "Demonstration Base of Salvia Miltiorrhiza in Western Henan" by the Department of Agriculture in Henan Province ; Sanmenxia is also one of the original places of Eucommia Ulmoides with its planting area of 57000 mu; "Mianchi Chaihu" was awarded the title of "Rural Characteristic Product" by the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs. A series of authentic Chinese herbal medicine brands have strongly promoted the high-quality development of traditional Chinese medicine industry in Sanmenxia.

Industry classification is complete, and the development momentum of TCM enterprises is rapid. Sanmenxia continues to optimize the industrial structure of traditional Chinese medicine, improve the intensive processing, promote the transformation of resource advantages into industrial advantages, so as to build seven industrial enterprises above the scale, including  FushouTang Pharmaceutical, Guangyu Biopharmaceutical, Henan Jiujiu Biotechnology, Yuxi Pharmaceutical, Leshi Tongren, Sanmenxia Ruizhiheng Pharmaceutical. Among them, the sales of single varieties of Sanowei Pharmaceutical's suppository enteric coated capsule was 180 million yuan. The new drug Namefene Hydrochloride Injection of Yuxi Pharmaceutical was one of the five manufacturers in China, occupying about 30% of the national market. The lipid-lowering tablets and Huanglian Shangqing tablets produced by Leshi Tongren Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd accounted for more than 30% of the national market. The production and sales of the leading product of Guangyu Biopharmaceutical, and Rabdosia rubescens Tablets ranked first in the country. Among the two industrial enterprises above designated size that produce Chinese herbal pieces, Lushi Zhongkang Chinese Herbal Pieces Co., Ltd. is the first enterprise in Henan that has passed the standard certification for the production quality management of Chinese herbal pieces. Sanmenxia Yuhuangshan Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd. passed the "National High tech Enterprise Certification" in 2018, and is currently the only manufacturer who specializes in the production of Shuifei realgar powder in China.

Industrial chain is perfect and the reserve resources are sufficient. The traditional Chinese medicine industry in Sanmenxia has a wide layout and complete categories. The products include Chinese patent medicine, chemical medicine, granules, pills, tablets, oral liquid and injections. The industry not only covers pharmaceutical intermediates and chemical API manufacturers, but also involves large-scale TCM planting and primary processing enterprises, which have initially formed a whole-chain industrial development pattern of TCM planting, processing, sales and production. There are 127 entities engaged in the production and operation of Chinese medicinal materials in Sanmenxia, 21 large planters with an area of more than 50 mu, 5 large-scale planting and processing enterprises, including the Eucommia base of Tiandi Science and Technology Ecology Co., Ltd. in Lingbao, Muxian Peony Industrial Park in Hubin District, Henan Tongjuntang Medicinal Materials Co., Ltd.in Lushi County, etc., which produced 91000 tons of various medicinal materials and a total output value of 1.31 billion yuan. All these laid a solid foundation for Sanmenxia to strengthen its industry, cultivate its leading enterprises and make its brand known.
