On May 25th, the reporter learned from the Sanmenxia Medical Insurance Bureau that the results of the sixth batch of centralized drug (insulin )procurement organized by the state will be implemented in Sanmenxia since May 30th. Among them, the average price of selected insulin will be reduced by 48%, which will effectively relieve the drug burden of diabetes patients.

Insulin is an effective way to reduce hyperglycemia. When diet, exercise or other hypoglycemic drugs cannot achieve sufficient blood sugar control, insulin can be applied to the treatment of type 1 diabetes and type 2 diabetes patients.

 This special intensive procurement of insulin covers the second and third generation insulin varieties commonly used in clinical practice, which involves six categories of human insulin at meal time, basic human insulin, premixed human insulin, insulin analogues at meal time, basic insulin analogues and premixed insulin analogues. A total of 16 generic varieties were selected from 11 enterprises, and 91 varieties and specifications were selected. The average price of the selected products decreased by 48%, with a maximum decrease of 73%. "Taking insulin glargine commonly used in clinic as an example, from an average of 180 RMB for one tube to 70 RMB for one tube, diabetes patients can save about 4000 yuan of insulin drug costs every year, which will greatly benefit diabetes patients in Sanmenxia." The relevant person in charge of Sanmenxia Municipal Medical Insurance Bureau said.

 After May 30th , diabetes patients in Sanmenxia can buy insulin drugs at reduced prices in public medical institutions at all levels, designated social medical institutions and chain pharmacies participating in intensive procurement.
