On July 23rd, the opening ceremony of the “Walking is My Hometown” Tour of Zhongyuan 2021-2022 Henan Cycling Open and the Sanmenxia Station Competition will be held. Riders from a number of teams across Henan will compete with speed and passion on the beautiful Yellow River track to experience the charm of the hundred miles of the Yellow River ecological corridor.

With the theme of “Welcome the 20th National Congress, Happiness Entering Every Household”, this competition is hosted by the Henan Sports Bureau, Henan Sports Federation, and Sanmenxia municipal government. There are two events: the public experience group and the road men’s group.

It’s reported that the competition of the public experience group is five kilometers long, and more than 500 people signed up for the competition. The route is: Sanmenxia International Cultural Expo City South Square (starting point) → Beidi West Road → Gantang South Road → Xiaoshan West Road → Taiyang Road → Huancheng West Road → under the Haoji railway bridge (end point).

The men’s road race is 44 kilometers long. 145 athletes from 26 high-level teams in the province will ride from Sanmenxia to Lingbao, passing through the hundred miles of the Yellow River ecological corridor. Participants can enjoy the magnificent scenery of the Yellow River while participating in the competition. 

According to the staff of the Municipal Sports Bureau, the men’s road race is different from the past. It will be divided into 16 stops based on the league points system. Sanmenxia Station will be the site of the opening ceremony and the first stop. The Yima Stop will be held on July 25th. Participants get different points at each stop, and the prizes will be awarded according to the final ranking. The public experience group competition aims to mobilize the enthusiasm of people to participate in sports. According to the requirements, all contestants must wear masks, take body temperature, scan the venue code, check the health code, travel history card and nucleic acid test negative certificate within 24 hours before entering the competition venue.

Tour of Zhongyuan Henan Cycling Open is a representative national fitness brand event with regional influence. Since the event was successfully held in 2015, the scale has been continuously expanded, the level has been gradually improved, and the popularity and influence have been increasing. At present, the scale of the annual event has reached 16 stops, and the number of participants in a single stop exceeds 2,000.
