Sanmenxia insists on strengthening and optimizing traditional industries, expanding and refining emerging industries, planning future industries, and actively promoting the transformation of industrial basic advantages to modern industrial system advantages. The quality and efficiency of industrial economy have been continuously improved, showing great strength. In 2021, among the 22 major industrial products in the city, the production capacity of five products ranked first in the country, and the production capacity of 18 products ranked first in the province. The added value of industries increased by 10.9%, ranking first in the province. The main economic indicators were firmly ranked in the province’s “first matrix”. 

Taking the high-quality development of the manufacturing industry as the theme, Sanmenxia systematically planned the industrial development of the city, clarified the work objectives, key tasks and work measures, and promoted the deep coupling of the five chains of industrial chain, innovation chain, supply chain, factor chain, and system chain, and focused on promoting excellent industrial chain building project, basic material industry renewal project, industrial chain and innovation chain integration project and other tasks.

Focusing on the establishment of a modern industrial system, the Work Plan for the “Chain Director” System of the Manufacturing Industry Chain in Sanmenxia was issued. For the development of ten special (emerging) industrial chains including aluminum deep processing, copper deep processing, and modern gold, a systematic plan has been proposed. “Two maps”, a panorama of the industrial chain and a development roadmap have been drawn, and “four lists”, key issues, key parks, key enterprises, and key projects have been clarified. Sanmenxia promoted the construction of industrial parks in all counties (cities, districts), planned and implemented chain extension and chain improvement projects surrounding “chain master” enterprises, actively undertook industrial transfer, implemented chain supplementation projects, and strengthened the cultivation of pioneer enterprises and specialized and sophisticated enterprises. At present, the city’s key industrial chains have been continuously improved. The full industry chain development trend of gold and aluminum industries has taken shape. The characteristic development of copper deep processing and other industries has been accelerated. There are five specialized and sophisticated and “little giant” enterprises of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology and 23 provincial-level specialized and sophisticated enterprises.

Sanmenxia accelerated the cultivation of enterprise groups, accelerated the cultivation of the future industrial layout and emerging industries, the upgrade of traditional industries, and promoted the empowerment of digital intelligence. In 2021, the production capacity of five products in Sanmenxia, namely, gold potassium citrate, copper foil, corundum, gallium, and enteric-coated thrombolytics capsules ranked first in the country, and the production capacity of two products, gold and germanium, ranked second in the country. The production capacity of 18 products including electrolytic copper, alumina, aluminum sheet, trimethyl gallium, PBT, sulfuric acid, phenolic resin, special graphite, liquor, modified cars, and wheels ranked first in the province. The relevant official of the Municipal Development and Reform Commission said that by 2025, Sanmenxia will form ten industrial chains with whole chains, complete ecology and obvious characteristics, and the number of major industrial enterprises will exceed 650. The manufacturing industry will account for more than 30% of the regional GDP, and an advanced manufacturing system with “traditional industries as the foundation, emerging industries as the pillars, and future industries as the guide” will be basically built.
