Since the beginning of this year, Sanmenxia has thoroughly implemented the central government’s major requirements of “preventing the epidemic, stabilizing the economy and safe development” and the national and provincial decisions and deployments on economic work, and efficiently coordinated epidemic prevention and control and economic and social development. The industrial economy has made steady progress and shows good momentum. The growth rate of major economic indicators has remained at the “first matrix” of Henan Province. 

With the main line of improving the quality of development and the main direction of deepening the supply-side structural reform and establishing a modern industrial system, focusing on “ten strategies” and “ten special projects”, Sanmenxia continued to do a good job in the transform and upgrade of traditional industries, and cultivating and strengthening strategic emerging industries, planning the layout of future industries. Sanmenxia raised the bar, pushed forward under pressure, and concentrated its efforts to promote high-quality economic development. In the first quarter, the GDP of Sanmenxia increased by 6.2%, ranking third in the province. The primary industry increased by 8%, ranking second in the province; the secondary industry increased by 8%, ranking second in the province; the tertiary industry increased by 4.1%, ranking the 8th in the province. Remarkable results have been made in stabilizing the economy and a good start has been achieved.

The whole city went all out to ensure growth and stable operation, following the principle of “project is king”, Sanmenxia made overall plans for economic operation, implemented “three batches” in a rolling manner. Investment in key provincial and municipal projects has been completed, and industrial transformation projects were finished and put into operation. Sanmenxia solidly carried out the “Ten Thousand People Helping Ten Thousand Enterprises” activity, deeply implemented the “three major transformation” projects, and comprehensively did a good job in safe production, energy conservation and carbon reduction, environmental protection, etc., providing solid and powerful support for high-quality development. From January to April, the added value of industries above the designated size increased by 9.1%, the electricity consumption of the whole society increased by 22.9%, and the industrial electricity consumption increased by 36%. All three indicators ranked first in the province. The investment in fixed assets increased by 15%, the general public budget revenue increased by 8.7%, and the total import and export volume increased by 16.4%, of which the total import volume and export growth rate ranked second in the province.

All parts of the city and all relevant departments have speeded up the pace of innovation-driven, developing the city through science and education and strengthening the city with talents. Adhering to innovation as the guide, the plan of “double doubling” of investment in R&D and the number of high-tech enterprises has been carried out. The Sanmenxia Industrial Technology Research Institute was built, the Sanmenxia 5G Joint Innovation Center was established, the construction of the Central Plains Key Metal Laboratory was launched, and breakthroughs were made in the construction of a high-purity arsenic pilot base and a large technology market. At present, there are 595 innovation platforms above the municipal level, 107 national high-tech enterprises, and 146 small and medium-sized technology enterprises. The city’s R&D investment intensity is expected to reach 1.92%, providing strong support for the transformation of a resource-based city and high-quality economic development.
