100 years ago, in October 1921, Swedish scholar Andersen and his Chinese colleagues shoveled the first shovel of soil at the site of Yangshao village, Mianchi County, and found China's first prehistoric culture, which shocked the world. It was this excavation that turned Yangshao village from an unknown small village on the edge of the Yellow River into the birthplace of modern Chinese archaeology.

From 1921 to now, modern Chinese archaeology has gone through a hundred years of trials and hardships, from Yin Ruins to Shimao, from Erlitou to Liangzhu, from Zhoukoudian to Sanxingdui... Countless remains have been seen again and again to fill the gaps in China's 10000 year cultural history and 5000 year civilization history.

In October 2021, 100 years later, Chinese archaeologists gathered in Sanmenxia to witness the centenary of the birth of Chinese modern archaeology and continue the dialogue between China and the world on the Bank of the Yellow River. On October 17, the 100th anniversary of the discovery of Yangshao culture and the birth of modern Chinese archaeology was held here. The conference read out a congratulatory letter from General Secretary Xi Jinping. Hu Heping, Vice Minister of the Propaganda Department of the CPC Central Committee and Minister of culture and tourism, Xie Fuzhan, President of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, Lou Yangsheng, Secretary of the provincial Party committee, attended the conference and delivered a speech, and Governor Wang Kai attended. Five famous archaeological experts made wonderful keynote speeches.

From October 18 to 19, 23 professional committee meetings of the third Chinese Archaeology conference were held in Sanmenxia. Experts and scholars from all over the country expressed their insights and collided their ideas and views.
