Fruit Production in Sanmenxia Hits A New High

In recent years, guided by the rural revitalization strategy, Sanmenxia spared no efforts to construct the "Golden Apple Industry Belt" with the direction of "high-end, high-quality and high-efficiency and the purpose of building a big orchard, so as to promote the demonstration, popularization and application of new varieties, new technologies and new models, all the efforts were made to promote the continuous growth of the modern fruit industry economy with stabilized areas, reasonable structures, improved qualities to create a brand and increase the income, which provided strong support for the sustainable and healthy development of the agricultural and rural economy.

According to statistics, by the end of 2021, the garden fruit planting area in Sanmenxia reached 982,300 mu, which were basically the same as the previous year; the output of garden fruit was 2,682,700 tons, which were an increase of 88,400 tons or 3.4% over the previous year. Sanmenxia’s fruit output accounts for 1/4 of Henan province, ranking first in the province for 11 consecutive years.

The dominance of apple industry continues to solidify. At the end of 2021, the apple planting area in Sanmenxia was 689,600 mu, a decrease of 2.1% year-on-year; apple production reached 2.063 million tons, a year-on-year increase of 2.4%.

Other fruits developed steadily. In 2021, the output of peaches is 187,400 tons, an increase of 7.8% year-on-year; the output of persimmons is 165,800 tons, an increase of 2.8% year-on-year; the output of grapes is 91,000 tons, an increase of 8.0% year-on-year; the output of pears is 77,200 tons, an increase of 15.4% year-on-year; the output of red dates is 2.84 10,000 tons, an increase of 8.7% year-on-year.

The value of fruit production continues to grow. According to estimates, Sanmenxia's fruit output value in the whole year reached 8.96 billion yuan, which was an increase of 140 million yuan over 2020, and an increase of 2.6% at comparable prices; fruit output value accounts for 32.8% of the total output value of agriculture, forestry, animal husbandry and fishery, which continued to rank among the characteristic agricultural industries.
