On the morning of September 7, the reporter saw at the construction site of the south approach bridge and south lead of the Sanmenxia Yellow River road-rail bridge, large cranes, road rollers and other machines were operating in an orderly manner, and the workers were speeding up the construction. At present, the construction of the project has entered the sprint stage and will be completed and opened soon. By then, the Lianyungang-Khorgos expressway in Sanmenxia urban area can be shortened by about 10 kilometers, bringing a more comfortable driving experience to citizens.

According to Dai Buqing, the head of the coordination department of Henan Yujin Expressway Construction Co., Ltd., at present, the main civil works of the project have been fully completed, more than half of the pavement works have been completed, and the ancillary works are nearing completion. The Henan section will be ready to open to traffic on September 30. Since the north approach bridge and north lead of the road-rail bridge invested and constructed by Shanxi Province are currently under construction and do not have the conditions for inter-provincial traffic, the Henan Provincial Department of Transportation plans to open the Sanmenxia toll station and the east-west lanes of the Lianyungang-Khorgos expressway before the end of 2021. 

The route of the project starts from the road-rail separation pier on the south bank of the road-rail joint construction section of the Sanmenxia Yellow River road-rail bridge, crosses the 310 National Highway and the Lianyungang-Khorgos expressway to the south, passes through the Shanzhou hub, and ends at the intersection of the north of Tuqiao Village in Zhangwan Township and the 209 National Highway. The Sanmenxia toll station is set up at the intersection. The main line of the project is about 2.182 kilometers in length, adopting two-way six-lane expressway standard construction, and the estimated investment is 1.184 billion yuan.

“The road-rail bridge project connects the Yuncheng-Sanmenxia expressway in the north, the Lianyungang-Khorgos expressway in the middle, the 209 National Highway in the south, is close to the Haolebaoji-Ji’an Railway Railway in the east and the Zhengzhou-Xi’an High-speed Railway to the south. After it is completed and opened to traffic, it will become a comprehensive three-dimensional transportation gateway for Sanmenxia, enabling the transportation advantages of Sanmenxia to become even more obvious.” said Dai Buqing.

After the project is fully completed, it will become an important channel connecting Henan and Shanxi provinces. The Lianyungang-Khorgos expressway and Yuncheng-Sanmenxia expressway will form a hub here, which will obviously promote the economic development of the Shanxi-Shanxi-Henan Yellow River Golden Triangle Economic Cooperation Zone. Meanwhile, it will connect with the existing transportation network of Sanmenxia, which is conducive to further improving the layout of the urban area, promoting the construction of Shanzhou District, the central business district and regional economic development.
