Recently, news came from the State Key Laboratory for Geomechanics and Deep Underground Engineering that the Sanmenxia Research Center of the State Key Laboratory for Geomechanics and Deep Underground Engineering (hereinafter referred to as “Sanmenxia Research Center”) was authorized. 

The Sanmenxia Research Center is jointly established by the State Key Laboratory for Geomechanics and Deep Underground Engineering, Henan Sankuanglian Mining Engineering Technology Co., Ltd., and Sanmenxia Industrial Technology Research Institute Co., Ltd. The Sanmenxia Research Center conducts in-depth technical research on geomechanics and deep underground engineering in the Sanmenxia region and even in the Golden Triangle of the Yellow River, forming an industry technology highland, a new type of cooperation mechanism for technology industrialization and commercialization, and finally achieving maximized scientific research results and social, economic, and ecological benefits. The establishment of the Sanmenxia Research Center is of great significance to the ecological protection and high-quality development of Sanmenxia and even the Yellow River Basin.

In recent years, the Sanmenxia Science and Technology Bureau has innovated its scientific and technological work ideas and has attached great importance to scientific and technological cooperation. Firstly, enhance the awareness of scientific and technological cooperation and exchanges, give full play to its special and important role in scientific and technological innovation and economic and social development, and make arrangements for strengthening scientific and technological cooperation and exchanges as a key task. Secondly, strengthen the promotion of scientific and technological cooperation and exchanges through various channels and create a good social atmosphere. Thirdly, build a platform for scientific and technological cooperation and exchanges -- to hold 11 large-scale scientific and technological cooperation and exchange activities such as the “Belt and Road” international scientific and technological cooperation special session, the 2020 Duzhong Industry Development Summit Forum, Sanmenxia trip of the experts from Chinese Academy of Sciences, and to establish long-term cooperation relations with over 200 research institutes and institutions of higher education including Institute of Process Engineering of Chinese Academy of Sciences, Hefei Institutes of Physical Science and Central South University. Fourthly, strengthen the research of information resources for scientific and technological cooperation and exchanges -- to establish an information database of key technical requirements for scientific and technological cooperation and exchange in Sanmenxia, and actively carry out special research in key areas of domestic universities and scientific research institutes to provide decision-making basis for planned scientific and technological cooperation and exchange activities. Fifthly, accelerate the establishment of the innovation platform through scientific and technological cooperation. Taking into account the needs of Sanmenxia’s industry, through the holding of scientific and technological exchange activities, the National Technology Transfer and Transformation (Sanmenxia) Center of Central South University, the National Technology Transfer (Sanmenxia) Center of Xi’an Jiaotong University, and the Sanmenxia Research Center have been established successively.
