Henan provincial government recently issued Henan Expressway Network Plan (2021-2035) (hereinafter referred to as the Plan), in which increased 35 new routes with a total length of 3,750 km, reconstructed 15 ones totaling 2,738 kilometers, and added 154 new entrances and exits on the built routes. Among them, four expressway projects are in Sanmenxia, namely Yongcheng-Lingbao expressway, Shenqiu-Lushi expressway, Sanmenxia-Luoning expressway and Lingbao-Yongji expressway. The total length of the project is about 137.4 kilometers with an estimated investment of about 22.6 billion yuan.

According to the Plan, by 2035, the planned total length of Henan expressways will reach 13,800 km, and they will be divided into five categories according to their functions: the national urban agglomeration channel routes, the Zhengzhou metropolitan circle radiation routes, the Luoyang metropolitan circle link routes, the Dabie Mountains old revolutionary Base routes, and the congested section diversion routes.

Yongcheng-Lingbao expressway belongs to the national urban agglomeration channel routes, which starts from Yongcheng and ends in Lingbao city (Yu-Shan boundary). The total length of the line is 515 kilometers with about 60 kilometers in Sanmenxia. Shenqiu-Lushi expressway also belongs to the national urban agglomeration channel routes, which starts from Shenqiu County and ends in Lushi County (Yu-Shan boundary). The total length of the route is about 390 km with about 30 kilometers in Sanmenxia. Sanmenxia-luoning Expressway is part of Luoyang metropolitan circle link routes, which starts from Our city and ends in Luoning County. The total length of the route is about 55 kilometers with about 40 kilometers in our city. Lingbao-Yongji (Yuan-Jin Boundary) expressway belongs to the congested section diversion routes, all located in Lingbao City, with a total length of about 7.4 kilometers.

At the same time, Sanmenxia will also add four new expressway entrances and exits, which are located respectively in the Shanzhou section of Lian-huo expressway connected with G310, Lingbao Section of Lianhuo Expressway connected with X032, Lingbao section of Hu-bei Expressway connected with S245, and Lushi County section of Hu-bei Expressway connected with S328.

In the course of the 14th five-year plan, Sanmenxia Municipal Transport Bureau will also actively strengthen communication with the transportation bureaus in Weinan of Shaanxi and Yuncheng of Shanxi yuncheng, planning to invest 32.2 billion yuan to accelerate the construction of such key transportation projects as Lushi-Luonan expressway and to strive to build an expressway network featured by more perfect network, more smooth cohesion, wider coverage, more convenient travel, and more powerful insurance.
