In the first quarter of this year, facing the severe test brought by the outbreak of COVID-19, the economy of Sanmenxia City has withstood the impact of the epidemic. According to the unified calculation results of regional GDP, the city's GDP fell by 5.7%, better than the national and provincial levels. In the city’s industrial investment area in the 1st quarter, the new generation of information technology industry grew by 90.6%, the new energy industry by 152.9% and the electronic information industry by 115.2%.

With the accelerated penetration of information, biology and new energy technologies, emerging industries such as Internet+, IOT, Big Data and Cloud Computing are flourishing. In the first quarter, the city's computer, communications and other electronic equipment manufacturing industries grew by 6.1%, the value-added of strategic emerging industries, high-growth manufacturing industrial and high-tech industries in the city increased by 67.2%, 7.9% and 2.9%, respectively. Within them, the value-added of new energy vehicles and high-end equipment industries increased by 8.9 times and twice respectively compared with the previous year.

In the first quarter, the city's  revenue in rental and business services industrial increased by 23.5%, the postal business volume by 25.7%, the total telecommunications business increased by 44.1%, mobile Internet access traffic growth of 47.3%,express delivery business volume growth of 9.3% and express business revenue increased by36.2%.
